My Prayer: We All Turn Into Fans
In a steaming hot room, dead of heat, with no open windows despite one singular fan circulating air.
My life has felt considerably like a fan in a city burning up with injustices and corruption. Questions that banter with the word "Why" circle my mind throughout the day, along with the friends I am working with.
Where was the media coverage?
How was this detail left out?
Why is there such a silence over this "industry"?
Who else knew this happened?
Could this have been avoided?
What does integrity look like, systematically?
Throughout this outreach, various issues, thoughts on advocacies, and ways of problem-solving continued to mull over our minds; the consensus was that we split into two categories.
avid advocator
primarily one on one
active volunteering
safe homework
Seek change internally
be a lawyer
join law enforcement
working in media
These points raised the question, is it more effective to shift the system and strive for honest justice internally, or is it better to avoid systems that are in place and help hands-on, generating influence in your tangible sphere?
At my core, I believe that there are solutions to these injustices. While working as a short-term missionary, I have yet to witness a massive change in the current systems. However, there has been a shift in the air! Hope IS for this generation. Justice is for ALL of God’s people every nation, and every tongue. Remembering God’s nature and that He weeps over our pain, walks with us in trial, and is greater than all things. This story started before me and will continue after me.
I pray for more fans, for shifting air to make like wind, and for changing the atmosphere to reflect what God designed His creation to be.
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
