Life Update!
A quick life update and what to expect from this blog moving forward! I initially created this website to share testimonies and observations I made while on a missions trip, primarily for all of the supporters who mobilized me so they could stay in the know! However, I have come back home- so what do things look like next for me?!
Well, I am down to 20 days left home; I am so excited to have the opportunity to work at a national park for the next five months! Seasonal work was always something I found fascinating! Growing up, my family went camping from time to time and many of the people who worked at the restaurants or lodges shared their experiences working in a national park. I was fascinated by the idea you could live and work in so many incredible places. What I loved even more was that there was a start and an end date. One thing I told myself when I got my first job was that I only wanted to stay at the same (entry-level) job for no more than a year. Maybe this is a flawed way to think, but I didn't want to get stuck in one type of job or with one experience. I didn't want to get too comfortable. Therefore, the appeal for a seasonal job only grew!
Before leaving for outreach, around October of 2023, I felt the urge to continue incorporating missions in my future. Before ever actually going on a mission trip, I knew I wanted to be prepared to go again. I did not know where or when, but I did know I wanted to be financially able to say yes. Last fall, I was particularly interested in learning more about what exploitation is and what it looks like firsthand, along with a redeemed passion for fashion returning. When I left for outreach in December, working with exploited people was one of our team's main ministries. This was a very eye-opening prayer to be answered.
Seasonal work at a national park allows the flexibility to work and then quickly jump into a volunteer position. I plan on spending my summer raising support for an anticipated mission trip! More details on that to come, but for now, I am grateful to be closing my time home with friends and family and having some time to collect thoughts on moving forward as I am a mix of excited and nervous!
