Reflections on Big Island

Notes from my last day on the big island!

The last ten days of DTS were a very different pace compared to outreach! I was able to reconnect with friends and see family! It was a wonderful time and I saw the big island in a refreshing light. Some of my family made it over to the island, and we explored by a road trip!

Before leaving with family, it was incredible to catch up with my friends who had also returned from their outreaches, with stories from New York City, Atlanta, Washington, Mexico, Panama, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea. So many invaluable lessons and experiences were learned by my friends. Hearing the raw and humbling times to the overly joyful times was so good and reminded us that being stretched is all part of growing.

I left my time in Hawaii in March, closing a total of 6 months. I changed so much. Looking back, I grasped the importance of taking risks, removing my boxes, and remembering there is no ceiling. Overall, I gained a new vibrance and hunger for change. I value the importance of community and am anticipant for all that is to come. Arriving back to the States, I feel backed by a new line of purpose and look forward to seeing how the lessons learned here will be applied to my life down the line.
